# Limits

> Look up every limit you can reach: plan allowances, request rates, payload sizes, imports and override durations.

This page lists the limits you can run into while using SRE Agent. Plan allowances change with your plan, so each row shows all four plans. Limits that are the same everywhere repeat the same value in each column. For what each plan includes beyond these numbers, see [Plan matrix](/guides/reference/plan-matrix).

## What happens at a limit

| Limit | What you see |
| - | - |
| Users, data sources, runbooks, runbook connectors, synthetic checks, remote agents, child organizations | The action is refused with "You've reached your plan's limit of N", followed by an upgrade prompt. |
| AI investigations per month | The Investigations page shows an upgrade banner. New investigations, automatic and manual, wait for the next month or a plan change. |
| Alerts per month | Alerts are never refused. They keep arriving and keep being counted against the allowance. |
| Request rates | The request answers `429`. API and ops board responses carry a `retry-after` header and `limit_per_minute` in the body. The webhooks limited to 100 per minute answer "Rate limit exceeded. Max 100 requests per minute." |
| Failed webhook authentications | After 20 failed attempts in a minute from one address, further requests from it answer `429` until the minute passes. Requests with a valid token and signature from other addresses are not affected. |
| Body size | The ops board webhook answers `413` for a body over 64 KB and charges nothing against your rate limit. Other webhooks answer `413` over 2 MB. |

## Rate limits

Rates are counted per organization per one-minute window, except the 100 per minute webhook limit, which slides. The API budget covers the REST API and the MCP server. The ops board budget is shared by new cards, card updates and comments, and is separate from the budget for the other webhooks, so card traffic does not use up your alert and other webhook budget. Child organizations are counted on their own.

## Ops board webhook field sizes

Values over these sizes are cut rather than refused, so a long paste still becomes a card.

| Field | Size |
| - | - |
| Card title | 500 characters and 2,000 bytes |
| Card description | 10,000 bytes |
| Service | 255 characters and 1,000 bytes |
| Each label | 64 characters and 256 bytes |
| Labels | The first 10, after blanks and duplicates are dropped |
| Comment body | 10,000 bytes |
| Comment author name | 120 characters |
| Comment id | 120 characters |
| Idempotency key (`dedup_key` or `Idempotency-Key`) | 200 characters, refused rather than cut |

## Imports

**Import CSV** on the ops board is an organization admin action on one organization's board. A file over 500 rows or 1 MB is refused before anything is written. Rows that duplicate an open card's title, rows with no title, and values the board cannot read are reported by row number at the end of the import.

## Overrides

An override on the deploy gate lasts the number of hours you ask for, between 1 and 72, and defaults to 4 hours when you give none. A longer request is shortened to 72 hours.

## Fix requests

A repository can have at most 5 open fix pull requests from SRE Agent at a time. A sixth request for the same repository is refused until one is merged or closed. A request that names no service or repo is limited to 5 in progress for your organization. A fix request can name up to 10 files as a starting point.

## Runbook fan-out

A runbook write step that resolves to more than one item pauses and asks for approval, naming the count. Above 50 items (the default), the step is refused in every approval mode, including Nobody. Narrow the discovery step so it finds fewer items.
