# Create an SLI

> Create an SLI. sli_type is one of latency, error_rate, availability, throughput, saturation. Link it to a data source with data_source_id and give it a query. The SLI's query type is the type of that data source, so an SLI created without one is a draft that nothing computes until a data source is set.

A resource-shaped endpoint onto the same tool surface the MCP server
(/api/mcp) reaches. Every gate, refusal and audit row a caller sees here is
the exact one the MCP endpoint answers for the same tool. Authenticated with
an API key holding the api:admin scope, or the read-only api:config_read
    scope for GET alone.
